Golden Park is located between the main resort of Altinkum and
Didim (formerly Yenihisa). Didim offers local shopping and a number of good restaurants, with more typically Turkish cuisine
than those in Altinkum, which cater to the tourist trade. Didim's restaurants are good value and definitely worth trying.
The Saturday market is huge and here you will find bargains in everything from clothing and household goods to food.
There
are 3 supermarkets close by and it is easy to purchase familiar produce. Credit cards are widely accepted in stores and restaurants.
There are ATM's in Didim and Altinkum, as well as lots of Exchange offices. Although the Turkish inflation is more stable
now, Sterling is still quite saught after - especially towards the end of the season.
Altinkum benefits from 3 beach
areas, all well maintained and there are sunbeds and parasols for hire and watersports available. The compact town center
means that everything is within easy walking distance, offering shops, restaurants and bars. The resort has developed alot
recently, but there is still a friendly relaxed atmosphere here and the Turkish people are very welcoming. The resort has
a variety of amenities, making it appealing to a wide age range - offering everything from a traditional Turkish Bath, to
all-night clubbing.
The restaurants offer a wide range of cuisine, with most providing a selection of English, International
and Turkish dishes. There is also an Indian and a Chinese restaurant in the resort.
When shopping, remember to haggle
- it's expected and it's fun! You will find bargains almost everywhere, but particularly in onyx and jewellery. There are
no longer any leather shops in resort, but factory visits can be arranged, just a 5 minute walk is Golden Park Holiday Village
which has full international/Turkish restaurant/poolside bar
The location of Altinkum makes it an ideal base, for tours
to explore the heritage and culture of Turkey, with Ephesus, Pammukale and Dalyan being only a few hours away and Apollo Temple,
just a few minutes up the road.
